Gaspe Connection: My Great Grandparents and Great Great Grandparents
Town/Village/Area: Newport, Gaspe, Quebec
Primary Family Names: Fahey
Secondary Family Names:
Time Period: 1800-1881
Particulars: My Irish Great Grandfather (2nd) married Mary Shannon whose parents were Jeremiah Shannon and Charlotte Reel both of Canada. Mary and James had several children one of which is my Grandfather James Michael Fahey (3rd). I suspect my Great Great Grandfather (1st) was also named James and may have had a wife named Bridgett. My Great Grandfather died at the age of 35 in Cloquet Minnesota. His wife Mary followed their daughter (Charlotte) to Sedro-Wolley Washington bringing her young son James with her. Charlotte married a man with the last name of Handley who later gave birth to Bridget who starred in the lead role of "Here comes the brides" a popular show about early Seattle. I find it strange that my ancestors came to Canada before the famine. I am looking into why. One friend suggested that they might have come as a soldier in the British Military.
