Blackie, Chisholm, Cochrane, Cooke, Ferguson, Hamilton, Martin, McColm, McGee(McGie), McRae, Powell, Power, Richie, Watt are surnames I am directly descended from. I am related to most every one in the pennisula through marriage. It is the secondary lines and more on them I am particularly interested in as I sometimes have only one ancestor beyond a great(xxx?)grandmother. Direct descendant of Gilbert MacWhirter that came several times between 1825 & 1831 and then stayed there in New Richmond. His brother John also settled in area. Gilbert James McWhirter moved family to Hopetown. Angus Campbell brought family to Black Cape in 1820s, including Donald A. who I am descended from. Have lots of info to share and some sources to refer to and lots still to learn. Lived in Hopetown very briefly before starting school and visited every summer for many years growing up. Sister graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1972.
