Gaspe Connection: Bernard Chatterton
Town/Village/Area: New Carlisle
Primary Family Names: Chatterton
Secondary Family Names:
Time Period: 1800-1920
Particulars: My father was Bernard Earle Chatterton, born in New Carlisle, Quebec, Aug. 7, 1916. He was the son of George Harvey Chatterton and Beulah Budd(nee Barton)Chatterton. George Chatterton was also born in New Carlise, Quebec, July 29, 1887. He was the son of Joshua Chatterton and Sarah J. Chatterton. I have information from census records of 1911 and 1901. There are some slight discrepancies between the two. The 1901 census gives the birthdate of Joshua as May 27, 1862 and of Sarah as June 7, 1864. However, the 1911 census indicates Joshua Chatterton was born Sept. 1860 and Sarah born July 1863 (assuming that lines 8 and 9 of this census refer to birthdate). The Chatterton family history in New Carlisle, Quebec goes back several generations. They were Church of England/Anglican. I am trying to find out who Joshua Chatterton's father and grandfather were. Can anyone help me?
