My father's memory is a little hazy now but he remembers visiting her family in Grande Riviere as a teenager. He also remembers speaking French as a child as well as indicating that the family was largly rural and bootlegging. My grandmother immigrated through Maine somtime after my father's birth and I would dearly love to locate my his/my family. Incidently the birth certificate is blank where the 'father' is concerned. Particulars: I am organising a visit to the island of our ancestors (Bonaventure Island) outdoor event day on August 9, 2009. I would like to know if you can give me some help in contacting other members of your family or any descendants of any of the other families. I am also interested in organising a photo exposition on the human aspect ( those who once lived there) of the island. The photo exposition could be in a café in Montreal in July and transferred to Percé for the month of August. The café proposed has accepted my idea and so has the SEPAQ. Would you have any ideas or photos that you could share to help with the realisation of this project. My objective is to unite the descendants (including families and friends),promote and share the pride of our past. I would appreciate your comments or suggestions Sincerely Brian Brochet
