Name: Susan Quinn
Time/Date Entered: 4:11 PM  -  30 Oct 2021
Gaspe Connection: John Stewart, born 1840
Town/Village/Area: Florence Point, New Carlisle
Primary Family Names: Muir
Secondary Family Names: Stewart
Time Period: 1820 - 1880
Particulars: My great grandfather is John Stewart. I am not certain, but I think he may be the John Stewart I found born in 1840, baptized in the Presbyterian church in New Richmond. That birth record says that he was born to an Edmund Stewart and Flora Muir. It would appear that Edmund and Flora were not married. In looking at the Muir family, Flora was the daughter of John and Martha Muir. They had one son, Samuel and many daughters. I have not found anything else about Flora (other than her birth record). I also haven't found anything more recent than the 1861 census, that lists John and Martha and their two youngest daughters. So what happened to the Muirs? When did John die? Martha? Samuel? Did any of their children marry? Did they stay in the area? What happened to all of the girls? Are there any Muirs in the area? Are there any stories about this illegitimate John Stewart?

Town/Village/Area: Cable
Primary Family Names: Cloutier Bernier Fortin Arbour DuPont Guyon Brown
Secondary Family Names: Paradis Sweeney Donahue Carpentier Morin Methot
Time Period: 1600-present
Particulars: I have many records from researching on MyHeritage. I am at a loss as to the correct James Brown (greatgrandfather) who married Mary Arbour. They immigrated to Duluth. I know the Arbours were from Gaspe, but my mother thinks James may have been born around 1866 in Nova Scotia. I do not know if they married in Gaspe or Duluth, MN. Mary, born 1876, is the daughter of John and Mary (McCarthey) Arbour. Mary's brother Daniel lived with them in Duluth. I have looked at hundreds of records, but there are many James Browns. Census records list him as being Canada English. I am interested in all of the above surnames as I have them in my tree as well as LeBlanc, Parent, Power, L'Advocat, Joyce and many more. I am from WI, but I want to visit Quebec and especially visit in Gaspe.

She recalled that her Grandmother's grandmother was a native from Maria of the MiqMaq reserve. I only find that this person married possibly a Willett in the family and is only recorded as Maria. I'd like to find out her real full name and discover my Native background.

Name: Keith Michael Adams
Time/Date Entered: 9:18 PM  -  7 Feb 2021
Gaspe Connection: Township of Maria, County of Bonaventure
Town/Village/Area: Campbellton
Primary Family Names: Adams, grandmother
Secondary Family Names: Lejeune, great grandfather
Time Period: 1863, 1889, 1926
Particulars: My grandmother, Louise Adams, was born Marie Louise Lejeune on 18 December 1889 to Alexandre Lejeune (dob 1863) and Marie Josephine LeBlanc (dob 1868) in the Township of Maria, County of Bonaventure. Her father, my great grandfather, Alexandre was born on 3 November 1863 to Andre Lejeune and Marguerite Celinas Porlier. According to my research, my great grandfather, Alexandre married Marie Josephine LeBlanc, my great grandmother, on the 15 January 1889 in the parish of Ste Brigitte de Maria. Josephine was the daughter of Joseph Winceslas LeBlanc and Charlotte Cyr. However, I have not been able to locate any parish entries for the death or burial of either Alexandre Lejeune or Josephine LeBlanc Lejeune. I did, however, locate an entry for the death of an 'Alexandre Lejeune' on 23 August 1926 - however, the wife recorded on that death entry was Marie Louise Bujold, and not Marie Josephine LeBlanc. Any thoughts on where I might search next?
